A Day In the Life of an 18-month-old

Let's start this post with a joke that I've been telling around the house lately. (And can I just tell you something? Not to give myself too much credit, but this joke absolutely KILLS. I'm talking rolling-on-the-floor, eyes-bugging-out, milk-coming-out-your-nose laughter, every time I tell it.) Goes like this:

Me: Knock knock.
You: Who's there?
Me: Mama.
You: Mama who?
Me: Dada!

(Of course, in an effort to prevent the joke from getting stale, I change things up once in awhile. Sometimes the punchline is a repeat of "Mama" -- only louder: "MAMA!" Or sometimes I use the Shamu/choo-choo combination. The possibilities are endless!)

Anyway, lately a lot of people have been asking me: "Lucinda, what's it like being you?" Well, I'd like to answer that question today by showing you a typical day in my life.

I like to wake up with some light reading -- something like "Fancy Nancy," which I now know so well, I can read it upside down!

As many of you know, I'm a very busy girl. So in the morning, I'm all about the multi-tasking, as I get ready to greet the day. Here, I'm practicing making pee pee in the potty while brushing my teeth.

Sometimes, I like to go out for a leisurely drive. (Of course, I never fail to get stuck behind some jackass doing 40 in a 65 mph zone!)

If it's cold out, I make sure to wear a hat -- like this one, which was a gift from my Aunt Jen.

And sometimes, to be honest with you, I like to just sit back and contemplate life's complexities.

I'm always in search of a nice, quiet space where I can hang out in peace. But many of those places, I've found, already belong to someone else. [EDITOR'S NOTE: Mommy and Daddy would like to point out Lucinda climbed into the dog pen herself at Grandma and Grandpa Sheinin's house -- about 87 times, actually, and despite Mommy's skeevy thing about pet hair -- and was not put in there for any sort of disciplinary reasons. Daddy, however, would like to admit the thought did cross his mind.]

For exercise, I like to go swimming -- make that skinny-dipping!

More skinny dipping...

I like to find a jewelry store and try on the latest in fashion jewelry -- like these cool designs made out of Play Doh! Oooooh, how stylish!

Believe me, people -- you don't want to deal with me until I've had my morning Starbucks fix. Short low-fat steamer with a shot of your strongest syrup. Come to think of it, make it a double!

In the afternoon, I take a nap. Sometimes I have these wild, psychadelic dreams about a big, maniacal bunny rabbit that wants me eat his eggs so he can control my mind.

Or sometimes I dream that I'm a bunny rabbit, and I live underground with my bunny rabbit friends, such as Iris, and we all get dressed up as if it's Easter or something.

If I happen to be passing through Delaware, I like to stop in to see my Uncle Jim for a little organ lesson.

And if chocolate cake is on the menu, you can be fairly certain I'm going to have me some.

Yeah, it's true what you've heard about me -- I'm a bit of a party girl, and I love going out to the clubs in my finest threads! (Of course, it's kind of tough to get too wild when your bedtime is 7 p.m.)

So that's a day in the life of Lucinda. I know what you're thinking -- and yeah, I admit it: I'm living the dream, friends. Living the dream.

I leave you with another top 10 list:

Lucinda: Your daddy sent me a link to this post a long time ago, and I just got a chance to read now, but it's always a treat, little cutie.

Best,
